From disaster movies to post-apocalyptic fiction, The End, in its various guises, continues to live between a fear and a fantasy - a fascination that increasingly feels a lot like longing. Original title was 'Why do we want the world to end?' but I changed it after realising Zoe Bee had already made a video with a very similar title, excellent new title courtesy of Matt Gray. Horror movies saved my life. I was a lonely, shy girl who was bullied in the 4th grade. I watched horror to get away from real life. They were exciting and fun. The final girls were smart and strong. I fell in love with horror way back when I was maybe 6 or 7 when I would watch Tales from the Darkside with my grandpa. He loved horror too. But what really pulled me in is when I saw Nightmare on Elm Street 4. I saw the final scene where Alice is kicking Freddy's butt and I was in love with this film. Freddy was cool, Alice was tough and smart. I had to find more of these films. I rented all the Nightmare on Elm Street movies first. Then went on to so many others. I love all kinds of horror too. The only kind I don't personally like is rape revenge with the exception of Last House on the Left which is brilliant and Ms. 45. Without horror, I think I would have been lost. I still collect horror today. I love my hobby and have a blast revisiting movies I've forgotten about and discovering movies I'd never heard of. I must also say that when I was growing up, women didn't get to be superheros or action stars. Horror movies were the only movies I ever saw where the female characters were intelligent, fun, and tough as nails. It was amazing. Still is

Maybe but you're forgetting the fact that horror is the worst genre. Besides fear is not a positive emotion thus being scared is not entertainment.

That is not a Fact. Besides Horror Movies can have positive Emotions but they don’t have to. Some things can be dark.

Leo's carax said in an interview that it was a film about the present moment. He says that movie scenes have neither past nor future. When he shoots a scene, it is the PURE present moment. This is why the scenes of the film are unique and do not relate to a past or a future of the characters.

The Beginner's Guide is quite a simple tale, the kind usually found in a book and not an interactive medium, about how easily and openly someone can lie and ignore. Coda says nothing, and Davey tells the world he is depressed. Coda says he is not depressed, and Davey tells the world he is depressed. Coda says he is happy with something, and Davey says Coda is unhappy and needs help. Coda says he REALLY don't like what Davey is doing even if he calls it helping, and Davey hears he needs to do more "help" Coda says he never wants to hear a single word from Davey again, and Davey wants to apologize a million times to him Coda says this material is private, and Davey acknowledges that before he shares it with the world. And Davey has no problem at all lying to himself and to the players face in the very same moment they are looking at evidence

I've been agonizing the last few weeks about what is horror, and this video made me realize that I was definitely overthinking it. I was thinking about it as something that needs to meet storybeats & plotpoints, but being scared isn't ever something with a clear structure, it can be dream-like and blurry. It can be whatever you want it to be. It really is just a very subjective experience tailored to break open whatever fear the story is exploring. I feel i've been enlightened with the storytelling potential there lmao

Sometimes, even after analyzing something so much, you still need someone to point something out before you notice it. Because of your video, it's only now that I recognize the themes of adventure time and why they affected me so much. It's only now, after *7 years* of building a world that I want to write a book in ( but been ever hesitant to do) that I realize why my own setting and story means so much to me, consideting that I wrote them using the same themes without realizing. Thank you for this video. For pointing out what I connected with so much in adventure time, but could not pin down myself

I read a really good description of the difference between gen z and millennials using Hamilton. Millennials try to work within the current system to try and improve it while Gen Z are actively trying to dismantle it as it needs to be built from the ground up So Hamilton is the Millennial working within Broadway trying to add diversity and new styles of music but still tied down with inaccessibility to large diverse audiences the prices a Broadway show choose to have While gen z are creating musicals directly on UA-cam and ignoring Broadway and their rules and gatekeeper ways
